Training

New apprentices have to pass their health & safety test and attend a COTS course before they obtain a trainee scaffolder card. They are then placed on our 2-year apprenticeship scheme. Courses include Scaffolder Part 1 and Scaffolder Part 2 at a registered training centre. All trainees have to complete a portfolio before they have an external site assessment and finally a skills test back at the training centre.

We encourage all our scaffolders to continue their training to become advanced scaffolders. HGV driver training is available to all chargehands and we ensure all HGV drivers maintain their driver CPC qualifications. Currently we are running a programme for all chargehands to be minimum SSSTS qualified.

Most of our guardrails and netting is erected off MEWPs and so the majority of our workforce has had IPAF training. We work inside tanks and other confined spaces. All employees in those teams are CONFINED SPACE TRAINED.

To assist our operator licence holder, employees at both Northampton and Manchester hold the Transport Manager Certificate of Competence. Our netting operatives all receive full FASET training in erecting and repairing safety nets and hold the appropriate CSCS cards.

Other employees hold such qualifications as CSCS Supervisor, CSCS Contract Manager, CSCS Site Manager, IOSH for Directors and First Aid qualifications.

All of our employees are Asbestos Awareness trained.
